Seriously… Where did August go???? I feel that I blinked and its gone. This summer was beyond fun for our family. This past month alone has been a perfect way for us to know that family means more then anything in this world. So lets begin…
This summer we met more moms in area! YAY for more mommy friends. If you do not think that meeting people that are in your same line of work, taking care of your kids, you are very wrong. These women keep my days sane when I am about to hand my kids by their toes or even my husband. They are going through the same things I am. They give me ideas on what to make for dinner that is not a bowl of cereal or a uncrustable. These are the women that are there no matter what I have going on and are there to help when the coffee hasn’t kicked in fast enough. You know who are you and I want to thank each and everyone of you.
Little Miss decided that she was going to start preschool again. She has been going for a few weeks now and it has been going great. She is having some issues with her eyes but we are going today to see the eye doctor to get a better idea on what is going on. I will keep you updated. But seriously, when did Little Miss grow up??? She was suppose to be my baby forever. 😦
School has started again for me and I am really excited to start seeing my degree come closer and closer. I seriously can not wait until I am done.
We have so much planned for the next few months! I am revamping the blog, starting a new adventure in my life, being more positive, and…
WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY IN MARCH!
Well we still have some stuff to get into order, but we are planning to go in March with some friends. It is going to be so much fun! I am so excited to be able to do this for the girls.
Take the time today to really focus on what you want out of today. Whether it be to finish the laundry ( I need to do this…) or keep your cool with your children today (I need to do this….), just take the time to get your daily goals in order. Lately I have been taking the time each morning to really think about what I have to do today and what I want to accomplish today. It really helps.
Recently I have come into the world of planners and they are one of the best things out there. There is so much that you can do with your planner that makes it your own. I love every minute of. This picture is from a youtube video that really shows you how to personalize your planner to make it your own. This has been life…. LINK!
Take the time to yourself over a cup of coffee and really figure out what you want out of today..
Hello! Wow it has been a long time. Sorry if you missed me, but I have been crazy busy. So lets play catch up. Since my last post a ton has happened. So lets start from the beginning….
Little Miss was still having trouble with her ears. :(. We were still battling many ear infections and were having a hard time with antibiotics and trying to find something that worked for her. So after meeting with the doctor and find out that her first set of tubes had fallen out, in June she had another surgery to remove her adenoids taken out another set of tubes put in. I would have to say… this has done wonders. It really feels like she is a different person. I am just hoping that this lasts and we won’t have to do anything anymore. But as you can see, this surgery was a little more intense.
Little Slug is now one. :(. Where did the time go. I seriously feel like I blinked and she was big. She is running around the house and living life. We really don’t have a ton of issues with her. The only thing that we are battling is that fact that she has some major allergy issues. This summer weather is not helping her any. I feel horrible for her. So if you have any suggestions on things that can help, please comment below!
We have been doing a lot of remodels to the house that we are living in. It is coming along nicely but at the same time, it is taking FOREVER….. If you didn’t know, we live in the Geek’s grandfathers house. When we had to move so suddenly to help with the Geek’s mom we moved in the house and basically took it over. So we needed to make the house more livable by doing remodels. They are just taking forever.
At the beginning of June I was able to take some time away and go to Florida for 5 days! No kids… No Geek. Just me and my girlfriend. We went down to visit her parents and it was exactly what I needed. It was so nice to be able to go away and spend time just on me. I would do it again in a heart beat.
In January I decided that I needed to get back to college and finish the degree that I have been working on for many many years. If you weren’t aware, going to school is hard. But try throwing in 2 kids that need your consent attention… I am tired. But I am doing it. The Spring semester I made the Dean’s List! This is something that I have never accomplished in my whole college career. I was very proud of myself. But do not ask how this session is going…
We decided as a family to buy another gaming system… We are the proud owners of a Retron 3!!! Lol there is really nothing fancy about it other then it allows you to play 3 different types of games in one system. We have so much fun having family game nights and we spend the time battling it out on Sonic!
So really that is my life that last 7 months or so. It really has been hectic. We would have some weeks where nothing was planned and life is great. But then we would have weeks were we don’t have a free minute. And it is not stopping anytime soon! We have so much planned for the rest of the year!
With the holidays fast approaching, I am on the prowl to figure out how to keep my house clean for when family comes over. I recently stopped babysitting and leaving the house more often. So if I do not want to pull out my hair, I need to figure out a routine that is going to work out for my family. We live in a small ranch style home that has 2 bedrooms and one bath. We do have a open space that we use as a playroom. We also have a basement. My house is currently the pain in my ass. But we make it work.
So with my nerves getting to the best of me, I went to Pinterest. After spending time look at the different pins and trying to figure out what works for us, I have come to the conclusion that I am going to just live in filth forever. I need to find something that is going to work for a stay at home mom that has a basically 3 year old that has some delays and takes a lot of one on one time, and a 6 month old that has basically turned 1 over night and is mobile.
Here is where I am:
- Take out the trash
- Wipe down stove/countertops
- make beds
- Kitchen/Dinning Room
- Organize Cabinets/Fridge/Pantry
- Clean Oven/microwave
- Dust ledges/blinds
- Wash Windows
- Living Room
- Organize tables
- Dust ledges/blinds
- Wash Windows
- Clean baskets
- Master Bedroom/ Bathroom
- Dust Furniture & moulding
- Wipe walls/Doors
- Vacuum Floors/ Mop

So that is what I am thinking. I am going to take the weekends for myself. Well as much as I can with having 2 kids and a husband that works every other weekend. So my question to you is, what has worked for your family? What are some organizing tips that you can five me that won’t make me want to rip out my hair and cry on the couch?
I love that my daughter has found something that she likes, but man…. I am going to need more coffee if I have to watch Tinker Bell one more time today!
When I became a stay at home mom, I had this whole plan that my daughter is not going to spend her life in front of the TV. That we are going to have structured things to do and spend a lot of time out side of the house.
Boy….. did that fall through the cracks. Now don’t get me wrong. My toddler does spend a lot of time playing with her toys and color and have play dates and what not. But with being a mother of 2, and one of those being a newborn, it is hard to keep her occupied with things that are not going to make her throw crayons at the dog, or steal the babies pacifier. So the wonderful world of Netflix has helped with just that.
I know that this is not the best why to spend your day, but with being a stay at home mom, living with a family on 4 on one income, and having 2 animals it can be rather difficult to figure out what is going to help your family not spend money throughout the day by leaving the house, going to a playdate at the zoo or waterpark, or going out to lunch. When it is 3 of you that is out and about you need to learn that money that does not grow on trees. So you tend to do things that are very cheap, free, or you just stay in the house. So that is what we do. And lets be frank… I put on Tinker Bell and I can take a hot shower in peace or enjoy my coffee with no one talking. And I like that I can do those things.
I really do not understand what my daughter sees in Tinker Bell. I mean I know she is cute little fairy that tries to help make her world a better place by helping everyone in it. But that is really it. But hey…. that damn Neverbeast is one of the coolest creatures ever. I can watch that movie over and over again….. wait now I see what my daughter sees…. dammit…
Here are some of my favorite shows or movies that are on Netflix right now.
* WARNING- I AM A SUCKER FOR DOCUMENTARIES*
1. Orange is the new black.
2. Into the Abyss
4. Criminal Minds
5. How to die in Oregon
* Now before we start, I want to tell you that I am no where near a professional or an expert on this. This is just my experience with fluff bums and this is what works for my family. *
About a year and a half ago I started out cloth diapering journey. It has been a bumpy road trying figure out what works for us, but I wouldn’t change it for anything.
I know cloth diapering can be very intimidating. But it is world that is very easy and very rewarding once you get the hang of it. So here are some of my tips to make this journey a little more enjoyable at first. 🙂
1. Try a little bit of everything. Do not stick to one brand at first. Find what works for you. Find what is going to hold all the urine and waste that your child is going pass. At first I would only buy pockets. I thought that really was my only option. After a couple months I started to get a little discouraged and thought that cloth diapering was not for us. Then I joined a Facebook group and
that is when I saw that there are many different options. I really had no idea what I was getting myself into. We tried BumGenius, Flips, Grovias, Kawaii, and “China Cheapies”. We found that what worked for both of my daughters was BumGenius, Flips, and Grovia. These 2 brands, out of the ones that I have used, are the best for us. Then you need to figure out what type of diaper works. BumGenius has 4.0 (pockets), Freetime, and Elemental. We mainly use Freetimes. I like the convenience of not having to stuff diapers. With Flips it is basically a cover and a prefold inside. Grovia has AiO and Ai2. We use the Ai2. I like the way they fit and honestly they hold more. I am in the process of buying Applecheeks and Smart bottoms. I will do a post on those once I have used them for awhile.
2. 2 words… DIAPER SPRAYER. You do have the option of not using anything at all to catch the waste or using liners. I used liners for a very long time. I thought they were amazing. That was until I invested in a diaper sprayer. It hooks right into your toilet and you just spray the waste in to the bowl, and flush. That is it. And it helps keep your diapers clean. There are different brands out there and there is even a couple tutorials on how to make one for less then the cost of a brand name one. What ever you choose, just remember it needs to work for your family.
3. Wet bags- You are going to invest in some wet bags. Wet bags are a bag that you put the dirty diapers in. I also you use them for swim clothes, dirty clothes, and diapers. They are very versatile on what you can use them for. Some people just you plastic bags but I think they are worth the money that you invest in them. I have a assortment of brands and they all do the same thing. I have 2 in diapers so we go through a lot of diapers and clothes each day so we have a couple large bags and a couple small ones for when were are out an about.
4. Washing routine- This is going to be your most important thing your are going to do to your diapers. I wash all my diapers on hot. I do one soak cycle with no soap… wait for it… just vinegar. Yes you read that right. I use vinegar. It works wonders on your diapers. Then I run them through another cycle. This cycle is going to be a regular cycle with what ever laundry soap that you choose. I use gain. It makes my shit catchers small amazing! I also you some oxy clean just to help get them really clean. After they are washed, I put the inserts, prefolds, wet bags, and cloth wipes all in the dryer. They shells and diapers themselves do not get dried. They are put on either my drying rack or clothes line outside. I do diaper laundry every other day except for my strip routine that is done once a month and that is basically an extra soak where they soak in vinegar water for a half hour before the regular washing routine happens. Because of all of this, it is going to help keep your diapers clean and the germs away. 🙂
5. Just breathe! I know it is a lot to take in but once you get everything down it is going to be the easiest thing that you ever do for your family.
Now I use the higher end brands of diapers. They cost around $20 a diaper. But in my opinion they work the best. Plus, they have a resell value of anywhere from $30- $80 a diaper. It matters the condition of the diaper and if it is a hard to find print. So you are actually making a investment. Can you say that about disposable diapers? Enjoy this time with your little one and put something on their bums that is going to make them cute!
Okay… I really need to be better at posting. But what can I say… Being a mother of TWO daughters have really taken a toll on me. Yes you read that right! I had my daughter. I actually had her on May 17th. It was a crazy experience. I know that every pregnancy/labor/delivery is different. But my first daughter to this daughter have thrown us for a loop.
37 Weeks and 6 days…
On May 16th around midnight I started to have really consistent contractions. They were were defiently there but just not strong enough to do anything. Story of my life. This seemed to be a on going thing throughout the whole pregnancy. So I really didn’t think anything of it. I just tried to get some sleep. Around 3 am, I woke up to some major pain but they weren’t consistent enough for me to think much about it. But I never went back to sleep. Finally around 7 am I woke my husband up and I was told him that I couldn’t handle the contractions anymore. I told him that I was in a lot of pain but again they weren’t consistent. So we decided I would get back in the tub and try to relax. That did not last long. I couldn’t sit down. I was having really bad back labor and I couldn’t handle it. Finally around 9:30 AM I couldn’t handle it anymore. We took my oldest daughter to my sisters and we were off to the hospital. The whole way up there I was so worried that they were going to tell me that they couldn’t do anything because I was 37 weeks. I was worried they were going to send me home. So we get to the hospital and they get me in to the room to check me and I was 6 cm. I was staying. I WAS GOING TO HAVE THE BABY! I was so happy considering I had been so uncomfortable for many many weeks at this point. From the time it took to get me into the delivery room from the triage room, 10 minutes or less, I had already made it to 8 cm. I told the nurse I wanted the epi and I wanted it now! So they give me what I want and I am on cloud nine. About an hour later they couldn’t find Piper’s heartbeat. That is when the nurses came in and tried to find it. It took them a minute or two but they were able to find it. After about another 30 minutes went by and Piper’s heart rate jumped over 200. She was in distress. That is when about 30 doctors and nurses came in and told me if I could not push her out soon I was going to have to have a c-section. I looked at my doctor and told him I could push her out. That is just what I did. I pushed Piper out in one push! She came out in seriously one push.
She was here… and at that moment my world changed. Everything that had happened the past 8 months meant nothing. Every person that caused issues and made me stress out during the pregnancy meant nothing. I had my daughter and is was going to be a great addition to my world. I was lucky to have my husband there with me to enjoy this moment and the world was perfect.
She is doing amazing! She is breastfeeding like a champ! We really do not have any issues with her. She is amazing and Little Miss is being a great big sister! My life is complete… that is until the next one 🙂
It has been a crazy couple months. I feel like I have grown a even stronger back bone. I feel like no one is going to come in between my family and our happiness. They can try all they want but it is not going to happen. My family means the world to me and I will give them the world.
I don’t know what else to say. I love my family and they are amazingly awesome! We are enjoying this journey together. And we are going to love every minute of it!
